Visakhapatnam has over 250 Punjabi familes
On the eve of annual festival of 'Baisakshi', nearly 250 Sikh families of the city celebrated the 402nd 'Prakash Utsav' of Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Govind Singh's birthday and martyrdom of the fifth Guru Arjun Dev at Sri Gurudwara Sadh Sangat (SGSS) on Sunday. Speaking to media after inaugurating the renovated Darbar Hall of SGSS, its president Sardar Seva Singh Saroya said that thee new hall has full-fledged hospitality for the economically backward devotees coming from various parts of the country.
With the donations form the devotees and members, amount to Rs.20, the exterior and interior premises of SGSS was renovated along with 'Dhoomb' and sheds. A dispensary that provides free treatment for polio and other ailments was made available on the new premise.
He said at present, nearly 250 Punjabi families in the city and most of them are in automobile trading, transport, contracts and hotel business.
