Suspense over Jhansi alleged kidnapped ended
The alleged kidnap over Stree Sakti Visakhapatnam branch organizing secretary K Jhansi Rani was ended on Tuesday when the Vizianagaram District Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann announced here arrest at Salur. The police also arrested her father and both were produced in the court of First Class Magistrate Court at Salur on Tuesday.
The SP said that in a press release that Jhansi Rani and Lakshmanarao, her father were arrested from their residences at Maddilapalem in Visakhapatnam and Karakavanipalm village of Pendurti mandal by a police team. He said she is a member of Pappuluru dalam of CPI(Maoist) and her father was a member of CPI (Maoist) Visakhapatnam city committee from 1996 to 1999. The police seized gelatin sticks, detonators, wireless sets, wire bundles, a batter and revolutionary literature.
Meanwhile, the activists of various people’s organizations including Stree Sakti under the leadership of revolutionary writer Chalasani Prasad staged a dharna in front of the Three Town police station demanding production of Rani in the Court. Circle Inspector V Bhima Rao told the agitators that Rani was not kidnapped and she might have been arrested by Vizianagaram police and was unaware of any more details on this episode. Later, he claimed knowledge of Rani’s arrest from the Office of the SP of Vizianagaram on Tuesday evening and dismissed the allegations charge as false.
