Failure of brakes is the cause of the accident
An Oil tanker crashed into the waiting passengers at the RTC complex killing one person and injuring three others on Saturday. Panic situation prevailed following the incident as it was rush hour and there were a large crowd of passengers and passersby.
The vehicle was coming towards the RTC Complex from Asilmetta Junction and it started rolling down the slope when the brakes failed. The vehicle first hit a telephone pole and sped past the way through which RTC long distance and city buses go out and rammed into the people who were waiting at the city bus stop on the road.
While the people ran for their lives on hearing the shouting of the driver, one of them was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle as he could not escape in time. After a short while, the vehicle crashed into the compound wall of the RTC complex. The police registered a case and investigating and immediately rushed the injured to hospital.
