CPI(M) says farmer interest should also be taken into account
The CPI(M) District Secretary Ch. Narsinga Rao on Wednesday criticized the move to acquire 10,000 acres for second project of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Atchutapuram, Rambilli and Parawada mandals.
The meeting held on Tuesday with the Joint Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania had failed to take any decision owing to stiff resistance from farmers to the notification to acquire 2100 acres in these mandals for the second phase. The CPI(M) leader said that the authorities have not paid yet the compensation to farmers from whom 2000 acres of land was acquired. He criticized the Government denied payment on the pretext that the farmers have no pattas. The Government had paid a compensation of Rs.2.95 lack an acre to oustees. He further said that lands in surplus had been acquired in the past for various industries.
