Fly ash would be used in manufacture of building material
The fly ash collection system of boiler I of the captive thermal power plant of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was commissioned on Tuesday. The project costing Rs. 3 crores was taken up to meet the demand for dry fly ash that can be used in the manufacture of building materials such as Pozzolana cement, Fal-G bricks etc.,
Fly ash is a glassy material and has better cementing properties than wet ash. Use of dry ash helps consume waste material which is produced while generating steam in power plants and also conserves natural resources like the earth in the manufacture of bricks and other raw materials used in cement manufacturing.
According to an official press release said in addition to commissioning the fly ash system, the VSP also too up a survey of the use of fly ash and blast furnace slag together in construction activities like roads etc., where hard strata are needed. For details, customers can contact Deputy General Manager (Construction) of the plant over phone no. 0891-2518617.
