Net profit of Rs. 176.46 crores during the financial year 2005-06
The Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) earned the highest ever net profit of Rs. 176.46 crores during the financial year 2005-06 and recorded a turnover of Rs. 542.89 crores during the period. At a press conference on Thursday, the DCI Chairman NK Gupta said the company's biggest achievement was its nomination for entire dredging work of Sethusamudram ship channel project worth over Rs. 2000 crores in addition, the Rs. 235 crore capital dredging project of Paradeep Port Trust was expected to be awarded to DCI.
He said that negotiations were on with companies in Bahrain for forming joint ventures for dredging projects in West Asian Countries. UK based Price Waterhouse Coopers was appointed to benchmark DCI's corporate plan for the period 2005-06 to 2009-2010 and the exercise was expected to be completed by the end of the year.
