Decision taken only after initial inquiry
After eight hours high drama over problems in the Research Scholars hostel Vidya, the Andhra University (AU) administration on Friday suspended three boarders. They were suspended on the charges of abusing and attacking their fellow inmates.
Andhra University Vice Chancellor L Venugopal Reddy, speaking to reporters, said that the decision was taken only on the basis of preliminary inquiry. Earlier boarders staged a dharna in front of the hostel and threatened to launch an indefinite strike protesting against the AU Registrar P Vijay Prakash's attitude towards a section of the students. They alleged that he is encouraging some students in the hostel for the last one year which resulted in several boarders creating nuisance in the hostel.
