Basic amenities in urban areas
The Union Minister for State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja on Tuesday reiterated the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government’s resolve to create basic amenities in urban areas by setting up a Rs.50,000 crore fund. She after inaugurating the Vambay Housing Colony built at a cost of Rs. 2.95 crores for slum dwellers at Muslim Tatichetlapalem and laid foundation stone for augmenting infrastructure at the Vadlapudi rehabilitation colony with an outlay of Rs.28 crores. She said that the Centre had released Rs.450 crores share of subsidy for the urban housing schemes in the State and also released Rs.166 crores for the areas which were not included under the JNNURUM.
The Union Minister of State for Mining T Subbirami Reddy said efforts are on to make the city slum free city in the next coming years. Minister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna, and MLAs and top officials of the district were present on the occasion.
