On Monday night, robbers struck at a temple beside the National High Way at Marripalem and decamped with two hundis. They gained entry into Sri Bhusameta Vijaya Venkateswara Swamy at Ayyappanagar by breaking open the lock of the grill door of the temple. On hearing the sound, the watchman woke up and tied to rise an alarm but the robbers hit him and made unconscious by putting a cloth dipped in chloroform over his nose.

One of the priest who was passing on that way noticed the doors opened and called the watchman and as there was no response, he went inside found him in a state of shock. The residents of the colony gathered and called on the police and EMRI ambulance. The Assistant Commissioner of Police Y Prembabu and fifth town police Circle Inspector rushed to the temple and investing the case.
