Eight Medical shops licences cancelled
At a press conference on Wednesday, Visakhapatnam Drug Control Authority (VDCA) Drug Inspector Ravi Uday Bhaskar said that licences of eight medical shops were cancelled and those that of three other shops for a month for issuing fake bills to various Central Government employees who are eligible for reimbursement of medical bills. He has taken the extreme step despite repeated warning given to them and they have not changed their practice which forced the VDCA to cancel licences. He said that the decision was taken after an investigation over a period of about nine months.
The owners of the medical shops would be prosecuted. He said that letters would be addressed to the heads of the organizations too asking them to act on the issue. Uday Bhaskar said that it had been decided to take action against the shops involved in the racket on the instruction of Director General (Drugs) V Dinesh Reddy following which the investigation had been taken up.
