Health Minister announces hospital funding
The Government is all set to sanction funds for upgrading of about 226 hospitals in a couple of months said the Home Minister K Rosaiah.
He said that the proposal have been sent to NABARD for a loan of Rs.165 crores to augment the medical infrastructure which are in the final stage of being sanctioned. Announcing this at a regional conference of East Godavari and three north coastal districts on ‘Water and Vectour Borne Disease Control Measures’ on Monday, he said the funds would be sanctioned on need basis for infrastructure, increasing the staff and other facilities.
A decision was also taken to recruit 3500 medical staff including 1500 doctors on regular pay scales and other hospital staff will be appointed on contract basis. The Minister said disciplinary action would be taken against derelict officials and asked the officials to conduct more awareness programmes and medical camps in rural and tribal areas to spread awareness among the people. He called upon the NGOs, officials and political parties to join hands in fighting viral diseases such as dengue and chikungunya cases. The Minister for Commercial Taxes, K Ramakrishna and the Minister for Marketing B Satyanarayana and the district collectors and other top officials participated in the programme.
