Orders issued on November 13, 2006
The Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps has issued orders on November 13, 2006 that the proof of residence is mandatory in all property deals. According to the order, all transactions in respect of registration either for purchasing or selling property, the proof of residence has become mandatory. They have to submit true copies of ration card/driving licence/identity card issued by the employer/PAN card for the purpose of registration deals.
The Sub-Registrars have been instructed to scan the proof of residence to be submitted along with the main document. The orders have necessitated in view of deliberate furnishing of false or incomplete addresses by benami purchasers, contractors, IT assesses and real estate owners in the sale deed and other documents to evade Income Tax or land related crimes, he said.
