Dr. Rangarajan, Pillai and Chiranjeevi to receive doctorates
Everything is set for the 71st and 72nd convocation ceremony of Andhra University (AU) on Monday. The convocation hall has been decked up for the event. Barricades have been erected near the convocation hall to prevent the general public from entering the auditorium. Roads leading to the university have been decorated with festoons and buntings. Giant TV Screens have been set up at the Engineering College and Golden Jubilee grounds to enable the students and the general public to watch the convocation live.
Governor of Andhra Pradesh Rameshwar Thakur will present the doctorates to the research scholars. Eminent economist C. Rangarajan and DRDO chief Sivathanu Pillai and noted cite actor Chiranjeevi will receive the doctorates.
According to the DCP (Traffic) P. Viswa Prasad in a press release said that on the eve of convocation, traffic will be stopped or diverted at several places in the city. He requested the general public to cooperate with the police department to maintain peace and tranquility. Several restrictions have been imposed in and around University on security reasons.
