Thousands of devotees had darshan on the first day
Thousands of devotees had the darshan of Goddess Kanakamahalakshmi on the first day of the annual Margasira Masam that commenced on Tuesday. The devotees started visiting the temple right from the wee hours. The festivities began with 'Sahasranama Kumkuma puja' at 5am and followed by Panchamrutabhishkem and Ashtothara Satanama puja. Visakhapatnam I MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao inaugurated the festival by performing a special ritual.
Meanwhile, the temple authorities are gearing up to meet the rush of devotees on November 23, the auspicious first Thursday of the festival. The postal department haentered a tie up with Sri Kanakamahalakshmi Ammavari Devastanam to offer 'Margasira Lakshmivaram Ashtothara Kumkuma puja' package through post offices in the north coastal Andhra and East Godavari district. The devotees can get their tickets for performance of the rituals on Thursdays and ticket is priced at Rs.35. The postal staff will deliver prasadam of the Goddess to the residential address of the ticket purchasers.
