HPCL to sponsor more sportspersons
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Visakha Refinery Executive Director AS Rao said that the HPCL would identify talented boys and girls between the age group of nine and fourteen years. It is planning to adopt more upcoming national players in the coming years.
He said that the company will adopt them to provide training and financial assistance to participate in various international tournaments. Providing an opportunity to its employees to show their sports talent, the HPCL will host the second All India Indoor Games Tournament 2006 at Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium on November 10th and 11th and nearly 160 sportspersons are expected to participate in the tournament.
He added that twenty teams, including those from Mumbai Refinery, Visakha Refinery, marketing and corporate office will take part. Eight teams from north, south, west and east zones will also participate in the event. HPCL will organize the All India Annual Sports meet in Mumbai in February 20, 2007.
