Championships to begin December 17

The city will host the 7th National Women Boxing Championship at Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium by the Visakhapatnam District Amateur Boxing Association (VDABA) from December 17 to 21.

The VDABA General Secretary GV Ravi Raju speaking to media on Thursday said that nearly 300 boxers from all the states and union territories will participate in the championship. The VDABA is spending nearly Rs. 19 lakhs on this five day event. He said that the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy will hand over a cheque of Rs. 7.5 lakhs to N. Usha on this occasion. The district sports development officer N. Surya Rao released logo of the championship.
