P&G and CRY launches the project
Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) giant, Proctor & Gamble announced it is helping CRY to launch the Shiksha project. The Shiksha project is an education project for children. P&G will donate Rs. 1 Crore to the project. The company asked the consumers to buy large packs of its products between May and June so that the money can go for the education of the needy children.
The Director (South) of CRY, Regina Thomas, said that as per the UNDP list of 150 countries, India stands at 127th position. He said that over 50% children do not go to schools. Of the remaining, 40% will become drop outs soon and that only 1 in the 10% will be able to cross the SSC level.
