All set for Vizag to become International City
The Indian Aviation sector is witnessing a boom with an increase in domestic air travellers in the past few years. Five crore domestic travels using air services were made representing 1/5th of the world domestic air travel. This was stated by Y Siva Sagar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) who spoke at the Decennial Celebrations of the Visakhapatnam Air Travellers Association (VATA). He was happy at VATA acting as a pressure group to bring world-class air travel facilities to Visakhapatnam.
Sagar said that the improved domestic travel and international connectivity will boost the growth of the city. He felt that lack of proper air connectivity could be one reason for Vizag loosing the Volkswagen AG project. Modernization of INS Dega airport next year would bring bright future for the city, he felt.
President of VATA, D Panduranga Rao recalled the glorious 10 years in which VATA had been through. Chairman and Managing Director of Dredging Corporation of India NK Gupta, General Manager (Projects) of Airport Authority of India HS Suresh, Deputy Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) MS Rao, VATA Joint Secretary K Kumar Raja and others spoke on the occasion.
