Union says at least 1500 vacancies arose due to displacement
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant's Employees' Congress (VSEC) affiliated to INTUC, the recognized union in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has appealed to the Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy to advise the management on employment assistance to all the displaced persons.
The General Secretary of the union addressed a letter to the Chief Minister suggested all non-executive cadre posts in unskilled and semi-skilled category to the displaced persons giving them first priority since they sacrificed their ancestral properties for establishment of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He said that there are nearly 1500 vacancies with arose due to retirements, death or dismissal of staff have to be filled. He stated that the labor productivity of the plant is 285 tonnes per man per year while it is around 90 to 100 in others.
