Starts Dial Your University program
One reason why students flock to foreign universities for further studies, particularly for post graduate courses, is because the Universities does not provide sufficient student support facilities. Many students do not know when the admission to a particular course takes place or the procedure to be followed to get his/her original degree. While the help desk setup at the University is trying to answer such calls, the dissatisfaction remained in the student community in general.
In what is considered to be a new trend in the way Universities reach out to its students, the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University L Venugopala Reddy spoke and interacted with students from various parts of the country in a Dial Your University program. As many as 92 calls were taken up during the 2-hour session. Students from neighboring districts such as Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and regions such as Rajahmundry and even from Qatar called up and got clarifications by the University. Questions pertaining to a wide range of questions - from admissions to examinations and revaluations to issue of certificates were answered in the program.
Apart from the Vice Chancellor L Venugopal Reddy, Rector L Joga Rao, officials of various Sections, University Departments and Campus Colleges were present in the program. The program is actually scheduled for the first Saturday of every month but was moved to Friday this time since there is a scheduled meeting of the VC with the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education in Hyderabad.
