Grama Sabhas to be conducted in 289 villages
All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the first phase of panchayat raj elections scheduled to be held on July 29 in Paderu Division. The Superintendent of Police (Rural) JG Murali speaking to media said that the police personnel have been appealed to the villagers not to support CPI (Maoists) in creating panic during elections.
He said that in this direction, grama sabhas were conducted in 289 villages wherein they were asked to come forward fearlessly to cast their vote. The police have identified seven villages as sensitive, 17 hypersensitive, 24 troublesome and 209 extremist influenced and 13 as inaccessible villages in the agency area.
6 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 13 Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) 8 Armed Reserve platoons, 12 special parties and f5 Grey hound teams were deployed for the elections. In addition to this , 24 Sub Inspectors, 10 Circle Inspectors, 318 constables, 113 home guards also would be on the job, he said to media.
