Six lakh children die due to diarrhea
Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), district branch and Department of Paediatrics at King George Hospital (KGH) has organized a ORS Run on RK Beach on Sunday as a part of Oral Re-hydration Solution week.
Paediatrics head of KGH department V.Pundarikaksha speaking on this occasion said that despite progress in the health sector, nearly six lakh children below the age group of 5 years die in India due to diarrhea. He said it could be contained by administering ORS in addition to breast feeding and providing them with nutritious food. He said that diarrhoea in children occurs due to virus, but it do not require medicines as it is self limiting. IAP president Dr.D Rama Ganesh was present on the occasion.
