In response to the nation wide call given by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party cadres of the city unit of BJP organized Ghantanadam at seven places to protest against the hike and terrorist attacks. During Ghantanadam, the party leaders rang bells.

The city BJP president Bandaru Ranga Mohana Rao speaking on the occasion said that the Congress Government had been indifferent to the steep rise the essential commodities and in addition to this, there was spurt in terrorist attacks threatening the internal security of the country. A large number of leaders and workers participated in the event.
