The Criminal Investigation Department has attached immovable properties worth Rs.2.58 crores belonging to the VR Chits and Investment Company Limited and its sister concerns. The CID took up investigation into the alleged cheating by the firm after the Kancharapalem police booked separate cases in February and August 2005. According to the complaints lodged with the police, the Chit Fund Company and its sister concerns had deceived 1800 depositors involving Rs.22 crores. The police arrested four principal accused including two managing directors who had represented the company on December 4 and all of them are now under judicial remand.
The Additional Director General of Police, CID, Hyderabad issued the attachment orders and the CID officials seized 91 immovable properties measuring an extent of 334 acres of agriculture land in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts and the approximate value of these lands will be Rs.2.58 crores according to a CID spokesman said on Wednesday. The District Collectors and SPs were also informed about the orders.
