Visakha Utsav - the Festival of Vizag will now be a five day program

Visakha Utsav, the festival of Visakhapatnam, is now scheduled to be five day program, thanks to the decision of the Utsav Organizing Committee. Visakha Utsav is now extend by a day and will be organized from January 8-12, 2006. A mega bonfire will be organized to mark Bhogi on the last day of the Utsav. Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) Vice Chairman G Venkataram Reddy, Joint Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Municipal Commissioner N.Srikanth and others reviewed the preparations for the utsav at a meeting held on Monday.

Mr.Reddy said Utkal, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Bengali and other linguistic associations had been asked to put up stalls with traditional decorations and serve their popular cuisine to Vizagities and tourists and efforts would also be made to serve some tribal dishes. As a part of efforts to popularize adventure sports and games, rock climbing, beach motorcycle race and cycling had been included in the sports and games. Cultural programmes would be conducted daily with local artistes at the main utsav mandap being put up at Ramakrishna Beach.
