Visakha Utsav, the festival of Vizag, begins on January 8
All arrangements have been made for the Visakha Utsav to begin on 8th of this month. Workers were seen making last minute decorations at Ramakrishna Beach, the main venue of the utsav. Tribals from Orissa and Chattisgarh as also from Visakhapatnam and neighboring districts, dressed in their traditional attire, brought colour to the rally organized on the eve of the utsav on Saturday. The traffic police made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic as huge crowds are expected to visit the utsav during the five day event. Parking of cars coming from All India Radio side was provided near’ Sagara Tharangalu’ and for two wheelers near the Kali temple. Movement of vehicles from NTR statue to Pandurangapuram would be restricted between 5pm and 9pm.
Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Visakhapatnam region will operate buses for the convenience of tourists and the general public attending the festival. Twenty five special buses would be operated to Kalasagiri from RTC complex, 186 buses to RK Beach from Old Gajuwaka, Arilova, Ravinda Nagar, Potinamallyyapalem, and other areas according to Regional Manager D.Satyanarayana. In addition, 20 free buses would be operated from Railway Station to Jaatara point. Package trips will be organized for tourists who visit various venues during the utsav days.
