Banks need disclose names of depositors

The Director General of Income Tax JL Giridhar said that the Department is gearing to intensify its operations. He said that with the recent ammendements, the Department is now more empowered. He said that Banks and other financial institutions have to provide information of list of depositors with cash deposits aggregating to Rs. 10 Lakhs and Credit card transactions of Rs. 2 lakhs.

He said that the number of assesses with income over of Rs. 10 Lakh has increased to 9705 compared to 7642 the previous year.
