Demands withdrawal of Value Added Tax
Cloth Merchants in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalle observed bundh against the Government's decision to impose Value Added Tax (VAT). The bundh, held state-wide, was completely observed. Leading cloth stores in the city including CMR Shopping Mall and ANR Shopping Mall have down the shutters.
Later, a delegation of the Vizagpatnam Cloth Merchants Association submitted a memo to the District Revenue Officer demanding the Government to withdraw the tax on towels, curtains, bed sheets, pillow covers, blankets, crochet laces and zari articles.
