VSP gears up focus on zero discharge status

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has once again proved its excellence in the field of water management by bagging three awards at the ‘National Award for Excellence in Water Management Summit’ conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industries at Hyderabad. Amidst stiff competition from 30 short listed companies, VSP won the Excellence Water Efficient Unit Award, the Most Useful and Best Presentation and the Most Useful Case Study Award.

The VSP’s specific water consumption which was about 7.8 cubic metres per ton of liquid steel in 2000, steadily came down to 2.54Cu.M/tls is considered as the best in the world. VSP is putting enormous efforts to achieve zero discharge status.
