Haryana bags overall championship
The 7th senior women National Boxing Championships that concluded at Swarnabharati Indoor Stadium on Thursday, Haryana won the overall championship with 46 points, Kerala stood second with 42 points and the host Andhra Pradesh third with 22 points. Haryana performed extremely well by winning three gold and five silver medals in the finals, while Kerala and Railways won four gold medals each.
Andhra boxers got lout cheers from the crowd who were elated with the brilliant performance of Usha in the final bout of the championship. VK Swapna, Aswathy Prabha, KC Lekha bagged gold medals for Kerala while Kalpana, Chhotoloura, Jyotsna, Aruna Mishra won gold for Railways.
Police Commissioner, VSK Kaumudi, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes D. Ramanjaneyulu, Indian Amateur Boxing Federation vice president Bhupinder Singh and other prominent persons were present on the occasion.
