AU becomes second university in the country to receive the honour

The Andhra University (AU) has been awarded ISO certificate on Friday, giving it the distinction of being the second university in the country to receive ISO-certification after Anna University. The certificate will be valid upto December 19, 2009. TUV South Asia Private Limited General Manager (AP Region) G. Uday Kumar presented the coveted certificate to the AU Vice Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy at a press conference on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor Reddy said that the ISO certification would give AU an edge over other universities in the State and proves that the university standards are on par with international standards. He said that it would facilitate adoption of the best practices in education system with minimum usage of resources. The VC has congratulated the University officials who worked had in getting the certification within three months and expressed confidence that it would acquire better rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

AU Stated implementation of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System from August 2, 2006. TUV South Asia Private Limited conducted the final assessment of the audit early this month. The scope of ISO certification includes design of curriculum, syllabus, regulations and eligibility norms of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes offer quality education through admissions, teaching, conduct of examination, evaluation and publication of results.
