He is the first DGP to tour core Agency areas
The Director General of Police Swarnjit Sen’s visit to the north coastal districts concluded on Friday. He ventured into remote areas untouched by his predecessors gave a big boos to the morale of police personnel in Agency areas. He toured the Maoist infested interior places, most of which remained aloof to the outside world. He visited such places in the Andhra Orissa Border area which has been a shelter zone for Maoists and participated in various programmes at Etcherla in Srikakulam district, Narsipatnam, Paderu, Araku, Anatagiri and other places in Visakhapatnam district.
The police have made tight security arrangements for the safety of not only the DGP but also of other officials including the district collector, IG, DIG and SP who accompanied him. APSP, Armed Reserve Police, CRPF, Greyhounds scanned every inch of the forests through which the DGP team’s convoy passed.
Speaking to reporters, he said that Maoists were loosing their ground in the agency areas because of the developmental activities taken up by the Government. He made it clear that the Maoist menace fan be curbed by extending them fruits of the development. He further added that there were nearly 3500 small habitats in the region which have no basic amenities and poor road connectivity and the government is concentrating on building of cluster comprising 150 houses and provide all infrastructures to make them better places of living.
