Dharna conducted at Collectorate demanding houses to real beneficiaries
The CPI (M) activists staged a dharna at the Collectorate demanding that the 15,300 houses sanctioned under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Scheme should be given to the real beneficiaries. Traffic came to a stand still at AVN College Road and Jagadamba junction for quite time as thousands of women chanted slogans against the lack of transparency in sanctioning the houses to the poor.
The CPI (M) district secretary Ch Narasinga Rao said the Congress government is moving away from the poor which will cost dearly for it in future. He pointed that the Government is giving away the lands to industries and demanded that atleast 10 per cent of the lands be given to the poor and later submitted a memorandum to the District Collector.
