Pilot project from Sankranti
The Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh for the first time in the State will introduce a pilot project from Sankranti to provide advanced information on power distribution to city consumers through SMS in their mobile phones. It plans to expand the service to cover bill verification, bill due date alerts, electricity complaint registration and complaint status verification in a phased manner.
According to a press release, it appealed their mobile numbers either to the company meter readers or to the representatives in the eSeva centres or bill collection centres. The discom introduced another innovative scheme of providing service connection at the doorstep of consumers with a nominal fee of Rs. 25 in addition to regular charges. The consumers can get the information regarding details of the documents required and charges applicable by dialing 155333.
On confirmation of readiness of the documents, the company’s authorized personnel would visit the consumer, collect the documents, charges, and provide receipts. Then the application will be processed and the new connection released. The Chairman and MD Praveen Prakash formally launched the scheme.
