ICA Member need to be a member of UGC, says NU VC
The Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandareswari inaugurating the 59th All India Commerce Conference organized by the Indian Commerce Association (ICA) at Andhra University (AU) on Thursday said creation of rural infrastructure with urban amenities would enable agricultural sector develop besides ensuring reasonable income for small and medium farmers. She said that only four percent professionals in our country met the standards of multi-national companies. The educational institutions are vested with the responsibility to inculcate soft skills among students and make them industry competent, she emphasized.
She said that there is a rapid growth in the economy of developing countries and the government is encouraging public private partnership in selected sectors for rapid growth. On this occasion, Nagarjuna University Vice Chancellor Dr. Bal Mohan Das said the UGC should appoint ICA president as its member. He suggested that the educational institutions should improve quality of commerce education in association with the industry and develop it into a professional course.
AU Vice Chancellor, L. Venugopal Reddy in his speech said that commerce should be introduced as a subject at a secondary school level to generate interest among the students. Management experts, businesspersons, administrators, economists, researchers and students from across the country attended the function.
