Institute is meant to cater the needs of employees' children.
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) Chairman and Managing Director, Y.Siva Sagara Rao in his speech on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations said that a proposal was mooted for setting up an IIT at Ukkunagaram that meant for to meet the educational needs of the employees' children.
Unfurling the National Flag, he said that efforts were on to start colleges with specialization in engineering, medicine, science and arts. As far as welfare schemes are concerned, he said that proposal has been obtained for construction of 300 additional units in the township and a Special Economic Zone was being actively pursued in order to improve employment opportunities.
He said that the VSP was found to have the capacity to produce more than 10 million tons with the existing infrastructure and it was committed to reach new heights. He inaugurated Gurram Jashua Park in Ukkunagaram to mark the Independence Day celebrations.
