Narsipatnam division registers 83% poll

The second round of elections from gram panchayats in Narsipatnam division were held peacefully barring stray incidents of violence in Atchutapuram and S.Rayavaram mandals. The division recorded 83 per cent polling said the revenue division officer K.Sridhar.

Elections were held for the posts 326 sarpanches and 3238 ward members in 3020 polling centres. Three persons were injured in a clash in Kadaplaem village of Atchutapuram mandal.

The people of Kandipudi village of Payakaraopeta mandal did not cast their votes for sometime as a mark of respect to Kumrapuram MPTC N.Rami Reddy who died of cardiac arrest. He served as the sarpanch for three decades.
