6 felines brought from Ranchi
Six felines were brought from Ranchi Zoo in Jharkhand taking the number of felines to 62. Three lioness, two lions and one tiger were brought and kept at the Animal Rescue Centre (ARC) in the Zoo.
According to Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) curator B.Vijay Kumar, these big cats were rescued from various circuses in Jharkhand and were kept at Ranchi. As these felines were dying due to blood protozoan disease the left ones were brought to this zoo.
At present, the ARC of the Zoological Park has a total of 62 felines while its capacity is only 60.
