Short circuit is the cause of the accident

A major fire broke in the third floor of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) building in the wee hours on Tuesday. Two fire tenders and a 15 member team reached the building and began dousing in. It took about 40 minutes to reach the source of fire and extinguish it. According to officials the accident is due to electrical short circuit.

Files, furniture and computers were gutted to flames. According to LIC Senior Divisional Manager, N Prabhakar Rao, the watchman sprayed a dry, anti-fire dousing powder at the main door of the floor and switched off the power supply. The loss due to this fire accident is estimated to be at Rs. 2 lakhs.

Computer Server located in the floor where data related to the pension and group annuities wing was intact. The computer systems had a prefect backup. Office work on the floor would resume by Wednesday, he said.
