Thousands of devotees throng temples

Thousands of people with long queues at temples and pedals of Lord Ganesh on Sunday to seek His blessings of the elephant headed God on the occasion of Lord Ganesh Chaturthi. It was celebrated with pomp and religious fervor in homes and pedals erected on the streets across the city. Elaborate and special poojas were conducted at homes, temples, and the pedals in the morning hours and the entire day wore a festive look.

It is believed that Bhadraprada month, the festival will bring peace and prosperity in the households. Big pandals have been erected at various places in which thousands of idols of Lord Ganesh in various forms and shapes were placed for conducting the nine day festivities. The 36 foot idol of Lord put up by the Vizag Defence Academy in Marripalem was the biggest among idols erected in the city.

Various devotional and cultural events are being organized by various groups like Sri Sri Chintamani Ganapati Temple to mark the occasion in temples and at other places.
