In obedience to the orders passed by the Hon'ble High Court dated 18/07/2006 in W.P.No.2109/2006 and also in exercise of powers conferred by the Bio-medical waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1998, the Member Secretary, A.P. Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad had already issued a Public Notice dt. 19.07.06 in the press, which shall be treated as final notice.
All Health Care Establishments / Hospitals / Diagnostic centres in Visakhapatnam district, which are operating without obtaining authorisation / renewal of authorizations from A.P. Pollution Control Board, are hereby directed to apply for authorisation / renewal of authorisation and tie up with common Bio-Medical Waste treatment facility which have not tied up till date on or before 03/08/2006. Whoever fails to comply with the provisions of the Bio-medical Waste, Rules 1998 shall be punishable under the provisions of Environment (Protection) Act'1986. The defaulting hospitals are also liable for closure under the said Act besides prosecution.
The prescribed applications forms for authorisation/renewal of authorisation (Form-1) can be downloaded from the website:www.appcb.org or can be obtained from the Regional Office, 6th Floor, Udyog Bhavan, Siripuram, Visakhapatnam. The filled in application forms shall be submitted to this office by 03.08.2006 along with prescribed fees. All the Doctors in-charge / Occupier of the Health Care Establishment are requested to give top most priority to obtain authorisation and tie up with common Bio-medical waste facility before the due date.
A meeting is being conducted with the officials of DM & HO, APVVP, Government Hospitals and representatives of IMA & APNA and Common Waste treatment facility at Zonal Office, A.P.Pollution Control Board, Visakhapatnam on 28.07.06 at 4.00 P.M.
