President APJ Abdul Kalam will review the combined fleets of the Indian Navy on February 12. A total of 60 ships and submarines and 54 aircraft will participate in the Presidential Fleet Review. Announcing this at a press conference on Wednesday, Eastern Naval Command’s Flag Officer Commanding in Chief OP Bansal said that it was for the first time that a review as being held on the east coast making it a matter of great honor and privilege for both the ENC and Visakhapatnam.

The Port Trust had to provide facilities for berthing as well as repairs. The President, several dignitaries including Union Cabinet Ministers, State Governor and his counter parts from the coastal States are expected to attend. The Prime Minister may also take part in the occasion. He said that in view of the mega event, the December 4, Navy Day celebration would be a small, subdued affair.
