The Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam suffered a loss of Rs.10.45 crores in the recent rains. This was disclosed by the Municipal Commissioner, N.Srikanth at a meeting held by Commercial Tax Minister, Konathala Ramakrishna with the District Collector, Praveen Prakash. Agriculture officials said that the crop in the district was Rs.3 crores, Crop on a total extent of 2950 hectares with submerged and sugarcane suffered major damage in Chodavaram and Anakapalle mandals. He said there is an extensive damage to horticultural crops. He said that 13 fishermen still missing a week after the cyclonic storm crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam causing extensive loss in the north coastal districts. Roads in the agency area of the district suffered damage and a sum of Rs.30 crores is required for permanent restoration and Rs.1.5 crores for temporary repairs according to R&B officials.
