The heavy rain in the district turned ferocious in the early hours of Wednesday damaging several houses, roads, communication and power installations. Seven persons died in the rain related incidents.

The city recorded an unprecedented rainfall of 12 cm during the last 24 hours ended at 8.30am. Revenue officials said that during the four hours from 2am the city recorded 7.3 cm. Munagapaka near Anakapalle experienced the highest amount of 8.4 cm followed by Gajuwaka, Pedagantyada and Parawada. The entire agency area recorded a rainfall of 2.32 cm. The district experienced a rainfall of 16cm during the current month.
