Visakhapatnam, October 3 2005
Visakha Utsav 2005 will be conducted for four days from December 22. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by the District Collector Praveen Prakash on Tuesday. The Utsav calendar should be made permanent by blocking the dates with the apex tourism body so that people could look forward to the annual festival, he said. Apart from promoting Visakhapatnam as a destination for domestic and foreign tourists, the Collector said that the Visakha Utsav should cater to the needs of the lower, middle and poorer classes of the people for which the festival had to be made people centric.
A number of sub committees would be formed to conduct the festival. The Joint Collector, Sandip Kumar Sultania, Municipal Commissioner N.Srikanth, Superintended of Police VV Srinivasa Rao, AIR Director Hanumantha Rao, and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager East Coast Railway Ch.Bal Prabhakar were present in the meeting.
