An out reach programme has been evolved by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority to enable unemployed youth among the fishermen community to undergo training in construction activity. Unfolding the scheme on Wednesday, the VUDA Vice Chairman G.Venkatram Reddy said that the services of the Hyderabad based National Academy of Construction had been requisitioned for this purpose.
As per the plan, VUDA would sponsor fishermen youth of Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam Beach Road acres for the academy’s courses in trades like masonry, bar bending, plumbing, carpentry and electrical mechanism to promote an additional source of livelihood for these youngsters. The minimum qualification for this programme is VII. The course fee of Rs.12,000 for the three month training will be taken care of by VUDA which will also give each trainee monthly pocket money of Rs.200. In addition, the trainees will be eligible for free boarding and lodging and tool kit. Interested candidates can apply to VUDA through fishermen associations or directly with necessary testimonials.
