Visakhapatnam, October 31, 2005
The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has won the prestigious CRISIL award for Excellence in Municipal Initiatives for 2004-05 and has been selected for the award for its work ‘in partnership with citizens of Visakhapatnam in the area of sanitation. The Municipal Commissioner, N.Srikanth on Monday in a press conference said that a CRISIL team visited the city in March for an assessment of the MCV’s work.
It has interacted with the members of Muralinagar Resident’s Welfare Association and was particularly impressed by the implementation of the sanitation schemes there. He said that MCV had earlier won the CRISIL award for introducing e-services. As many as 37 municipal corporations with more than one million population were considered for the awards, the MCV has won the coveted award from among 67 entries. The award was presented to MCV Chief Medical Officer MS Raju at a function at Mumbai on October 24.
