Work is in full swing for the inauguration of Apparel Park at Vadlapudi and Garment City at the Special Economic Zone by Sri Lanka based Brandix at Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam is poised to become a textile hub. Surat, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore have already received the status of textile hubs and the State Government is confident that Visakhapatnam will also join in this select brand. 71 plots developed at the Apparel Park by the Industrial Development Authority with internal roads and other basic amenities, 32 were already booked. Two firms-Swarnag Apparel and Hirawat Textiles have already launched civil works and are expected to commence production by January next.
Plots are being allotted through the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation at the rate of Rs.200 per square metre. Interested investors can contact Park Administrator Srikant Prabhakar (98490-83658) or APIIC for details. According to him, the units sanction in the park would each involve an investment of Rs.1.5 crores with an employment potential for 100 to 200 persons. The park set up on 145 acres would be fully operational by mid 2006.
