The Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam has announced a number of measures to check its incidence after the reported death of a man due to dengue fever. According to Additional Commissioner of MCV Asha Jyothi said that the hospitals and nursing homes to inform any fever case with dengue symptoms to its call centre (Toll free No. 1913) to help it to take measures to contain it. Hospitals, which have to inform statutorily the MCV about such fevers, will be provided a pro forma to do so.
Speaking at a press conference, along with the Chief Medical Officer MS Raju on Friday, she said an awareness campaign through posters and pamphlets had already been launched. The staffs of the Urban Health Centre are carrying out a door to door campaign. He said the MCV would press its staff to spray chemicals to kill the larvae and mosquitoes in stagnant water in open areas.
