The last date for filing of returns of Income is October 31. However, as that day is a holiday on account of Diwali, the returns receipt counters will remain open on Saturday and on November 1, 2005.

Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Prashant Gupta has appealed to the tax payers to file their tax returns ahead of schedule to avoid last minute rush.
